My path

From nursing to leading organisations across Europe and the MEA region.

My career began in nursing. There I learnt early how deeply structures reach into people's everyday lives, and that patient safety depends on decisions that have to be right every single day.

I took this perspective into the regulated pharmaceutical world. Over more than twenty years I led global and local organisational units there, developed them and guided them through transformations, mergers and inspections. I saw how much depends on a clear decision in an unsettled moment, and how a single compliance breach can shut a company out of a market.

Since 2024 I have run my own company, Lorenz Asmus Interim Management (LA|IM). I take interim responsibility when an organisation needs to be realigned, when a leadership role is vacant or when an inspection is approaching. I notice fine cracks early, often long before they show in the figures and long before good people leave.

Responsibility

Personal accountability for a safety system

As EU QPPV I took on personal legal accountability for a company's pharmacovigilance system. In Germany I was appointed Stufenplanbeauftragte, the person responsible for pharmacovigilance under German medicines law.

Leadership across regions

As a director responsible for Europe and the Intercontinental region, I led a team of 22 professionals covering more than 70 countries, and I built teams in Europe, the GCC, Africa and the USA. Many of the people I developed now lead teams of their own.

A qualification programme that became a global template

For distributors in twenty countries of the MEA region, I developed a qualification programme. After the pilot, it became the template for Latin America, the CIS region and Asia Pacific, and was later rolled out in the USA and Europe. To support it, I designed and introduced digital governance and compliance platforms for distributors. They are still in use worldwide and now include AI.

Five post-merger integrations

I harmonised established systems, brought quality structures together and involved the teams at every step, so that the new processes kept running reliably.

Inspections and audits

For more than fifteen years they have been part of my everyday work, with authorities such as the EMA, MHRA, BfArM, ANSM, FDA, TGA, SFDA and MOHAP, whose regulatory responsibilities for medicines have largely passed to the EDE.

AI in regulated organisations

I introduce AI into regulated organisations so that accountability is clear and the organisation passes an audit or an inspection. I work to ISO/IEC 42001 and the EU AI Act.

Voices from working together
She designed and executed transformational strategies that shifted manual processes towards automation and digital collaboration, laying the foundation for global rollouts in APAC, North America, and Canada.
Lana Podolski, MDVP, Head, Drug Safety & Pharmacovigilance
What I admire most is that she builds teams and systems designed to outlast her own involvement. For any organization navigating system change, market entry complexity, or leadership transitions, Simone is the person you want in the room.
Hitesh PatelDrug Safety Physician
I was particularly impressed with her work on conducting a good gap analysis of our entire pharmacovigilance system. This detailed assessment provided critical insights that informed significant strategic improvements.
Tiago BarcaDirector Global Clinical Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Swiss QPPV
Her ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on execution made a lasting impact on both local teams and regional outcomes.

What I bring

I hold a German diploma in business administration, Diplom-Betriebswirtin (FH), from SRH University of Applied Sciences Heidelberg, with a focus on human resources and organisational development and on healthcare management. I also hold a Master of Health Business Administration (MHBA) from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. I am currently completing the certificate programme in organisational development at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. I have also completed coaching training, which shapes my work with leaders.

I read the figures and align the organisation with your strategic goals. What matters most to me is what happens behind the figures.

I work in German and English.

When to engage me, and when not to

Engage me when your organisation in a regulated environment needs to be realigned, led through a transformation or brought together after a merger. When a leadership role needs to be filled for a defined period. When you are building structures and local teams in the GCC. Or when your pharmacovigilance needs leadership or an inspection-ready system.

I am not a classic management consultant who hands over a concept and leaves. I do not take on crisis turnarounds or purely financial mandates.

Every mandate begins with a confidential conversation.
